SEATTLE CREATES Field Trip to Common Area Maintenance >> Risograph 101
Overview
INDUSTRIES IN FOCUS: VISUAL ARTS + PRINT PRODUCTION + MARKETING + ECONOMY
Join us for a VERY special field trip to the recently launched, Common Area Maintenance: an artist led initiative and venue that offers affordable housing for Seattle’s cultural workers, residency space for visiting artists, classrooms, and retail space for mission-driven organizations (like SEATTLE CREATES). You're gonna love it.
What are we gonna do? It's Risograph 101 Time!
Learn the in’s and out’s of this super popular print technique known as Risograph printing, which is a stencil duplicator that prints in vibrant spot colors using a process similar to screen printing but with digital controls. Come learn more and see how you can get involved by way of our wonderful host, Atom Ivan: a legendary artist and Riso guru himself.
Plus, you’ll get a firsthand tour of this community facility, connect with creatives, and find more ways to engage in physical brick and mortar galleries and creative spaces in the heart of downtown Seattle. This is your chance to see what’s possible right here in the 206 and learn how to plug into our city’s thriving arts scene.
Expect to walk away with fresh perspectives, tangible resources that can enhance and inspire your projects, and an abundance of new local industry connections with wildly talented creatives and technicians living right here in The Emerald City.

About SEATTLE CREATES . . .
SEATTLE CREATES is a creative workforce development initiative providing FREE or low monthly, in-person workshops and immersive cross-industry training opportunities to foster and support interdisciplinary careers in Arts, Tech + Creative fields.
Each month, we highlight intersections of adjacent industries to help local creatives connect and create more fully. By bridging cross-industries who rely on eachother for economic success, we can facilitate deeper community connections, develop broader resource hubs, and establish a more robust ecosystem of creatives who fuel the creative economy. SEATTLE CREATES is here to shine a light, and we invite you to participate in this vibrant cultural scene because we can't do this without you. It's time to connect + create.
This is a partnership effort. Thank you to The Olivia Neal Experience, Inc, Duo Design & Media, Xiaolin Ma, 4 Culture, Allied Arts Foundation, Women in Tech REGATTA, Wheelhouse Washington, Seattle Creative Directory. Learn more @ seattlecreates.org
