This comprehensive board training program is designed for individuals, board members, and traditional board participants who want to lead nonprofit boards with confidence, inclusivity, and equity. Participants will gain practical knowledge on board roles and responsibilities, financial oversight (including fiduciary duties, legal and ethical obligations, and effective fundraising), and integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into governance.

The session also covers strategic planning and visioning to help boards create meaningful impact. The program features a fireside chat with a renowned community leader, offering insights on culturally competent leadership and fostering inclusive environments for diverse communities. Join us to strengthen your board leadership skills and learn how to engage, support, and include all members effectively.

Our Presenter, Jorge Méndez, the Operations and Development Director at the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions, brings over a decade of experience at the intersection of entrepreneurship, social impact, and organizational leadership. His work centers on strengthening election administration through operational excellence, strategic fundraising, and building a robust, collaborative network of the nation’s largest local election jurisdictions. Jorge also serves as the Board Chair for Social Venture Partners Boulder County, where he supports local nonprofits through capacity-building and community-driven philanthropy.

Our Special Guest Mario Carrera, brings more than 30 years of executive leadership, driving growth and strengthening media operations. His experience spans P&L management, operations, sales, marketing, strategic planning, content programming, and large-scale promotional and event production, including oversight of teams of more than 1,000 employees. He has earned multiple industry honors, including 14 News Emmys, the American Jewish Committee Lifetime Achievement Award, the NFL Hispanic Heritage Award, and several Community Service Broadcast Excellence Awards.
