Beginning and continuing sculptors of all ages are invited to sculpt from a live model who will hold the same pose for five 3-hour sessions. There will be instruction in clay building and human anatomy. Students will be guided in assembling a simple portrait armature. In this session, we will emphasize portrait building, though our model will be in a pose that works as well for those of you who prefer sculpting the figure. Participants will be guided in the preparation of pieces for firing and provided with information on kiln firing services. Mason stains and underglazes will be available in class and students are encouraged to experiment with them. A separate space is provided for independent projects; those who wish to work without using the model are welcome.
