What is the play?

This month it is Pomona by Alistair McDowall! The play changes each month. Sometimes we have a new play or an already published play. Information about the play will be sent out to all participants ahead of time.

Do I need to purchase the play myself?

As this month we are reading a published play, we ask that you purchase a copy of the script for the read. If this will stop you accessing the event, please let us know and we will get you  copy for the read.

Will I get to read?

Accepted Answer

During the morning play read, we will do our best to enable everyone to get a chance to read. The afternoon session will involve getting the play 'up on its feet' in a loose rehearsal setting. Everyone will be involved in this as a performer or by directing a scene.

I've never performed before and I'm nervous about coming. Is it beginner friendly?

Absolutely! Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned performer, you are more than welcome to join us! You will be guided through each part of the day. The space is safe and the people are lovely and will celebrate and champion you throughout!

How does the day run?

The morning session will run from 10.00-12.30 and will consist of an introduction, a few icebreaker games and then the reading of the play itself. There will be refreshments to accompany us too! Our afternoon session will commence at 13.00-15.00 which will consist of rehearsing the play in teams.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes! The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout with an Accessible Toilet and Changing Places Toilet.

What time should I arrive?

We meet outside 53Two at about 09.45 and then will head over to the studio at 10.00. Alternatively, you can go straight to the venue.  We will send information about how to get to the venue ahead of time.

I have a play I'd like to submit, where do I send it?

All play submissions should be sent to scriptedsocial1@gmail.com. Equally, if you have any suggestions for an already published play then feel free to send them to the same email.
