About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours

This is for the Scout who enjoys water sports. Activities will include flipping their own kayak, re-entering the kayak, helping their friend re-enter a kayak, practicing excellent control of their boat and their paddle and more. We will play games, have races, share demonstrations and get wet to master kayaking skills.

Guided Paddles are led by an American Canoe Association Certified Kayak Trip Leader and naturalist guide. Paddle Trip includes all equipment, instruction, and safety guides for this special experience. Led by a Merit Badge Counselor.

Reserve both the date Monday, August 25th and the "rain date" of Tuesday, August 26th. An email from kassi@wpwa.org will be sent over the weekend to inform participants of the preferred date. Hazardous wind or rain will require use of the "rain date" or cancel the event. Provide an email address that you will check prior to the event.

Participants may be 12 years old and older for the best strength and leverage. Experience and confidence is highly suggested. Group size is limited to 10-12 participants, and in-water activities will be in smaller groups . Parents are welcome, and not required. Kayaking Merit Badge requirements 1 and 2 will not be covered. https://www.scouting.org/merit-badges/kayaking/
