Adolescence is a crime drama filmed in an ambitious, real-time, one-shot. It tells the story of how a family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school.
TV-MA | 60 min,
Aaron May and David Ridley are a progressive composer duo working in film and television. Together, they create bold, distinctive soundtracks combining contemporary classical elements with an electronic edge. Their working practice puts an emphasis on experimentation and conversation, both with each other and their co-creatives, capturing the spirit of fruitful collaboration.
Co-composer credits include Netflix’s single-shot 4-part series Adolescence, starring Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham; BBC’s hit series Boiling Point, starring Vinette Robinson and Izuka Hoyle; ITV’s 5-part series Malpractice, starring Niamh Algar and James Purefoy; Andrew Lynch’s When The World Watched: Brazil 1970; Philip Barantini’s feature films Boiling Point, starring Stephen Graham and Vinette Robinson; Accused, starring Chaneil Kular and Lauryn Ajufo; and Villain, starring Craig Fairbrass and George Russo; Nick Green’s documentary film Con Mum; Gabriel Clarke and Christian Jeanpierre’s award-winning Amazon feature-documentary Arsène Wenger: Invincible; and more.
Aaron and David met at the University of Bristol, where they were both scholars on the Master's in Composition course. They played in bands together and collaborated on a wide range of projects before spending a few years working their way into the industry. After spending a few years apart developing their own practices, the duo reunited in 2017 on their first short film, Kin, starring Joseph Quinn, which led to other work on other shorts (Spanish Pigeon, Pet Name, and Jelly) and eventually their debut feature, Villain, in 2020. Alongside their film work, Aaron and David are sitting on an unreleased album, This Time It’s Always Real, which they co-composed in the depths of the pandemic.
