Science of Prevention: Promoting Healthy Practices in Youth and Families
Overview
Healthy habits start early—and last a lifetime.
Join Yvonne (Bonnie) Maldonado, MD, Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases), Stanford Children’s Health, for an engaging and informative discussion on how parents, caregivers, and educators can promote the "science of prevention" in youth and families.
Dr. Maldonado will share practical, research-based insights on how everyday behaviors—from handwashing and hygiene to regular wellness visits—play a powerful role in protecting children/teens from illness and disease.
As one of the nation’s leading experts on pediatric infectious diseases, Dr. Maldonado will also address the importance of immunizations and preventive care in keeping our communities healthy.
Participants will gain valuable guidance on encouraging young people to take ownership of their health, build trust in science, and make informed choices that support lifelong well-being.
Yvonne (Bonnie) A. Maldonado, MD, is Professor and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Pediatrics at Stanford Medicine Children's Health. She is also the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Diversity at the Stanford School of Medicine.
Parents/caregivers, students, educators, and community members welcome! Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available. Free admission.
