Overview

Join us on the Edendale Library Zoom for our monthly sci fi story club!

Join us for the next gathering of Sci Fi Story Club! We’ll be discussing Adam Garnet Jones’ short story “History of the New World”, from the collection Love After the End: An Anthology of Two-Spirit & Indigiqueer Speculative Fiction. As the future climate apocalypse deepens, an unspoiled Earth-like planet is found, and nations urge their people to emigrate there before it’s too late. Native people are conflicted about whether to leave Earth or stay, especially when intelligent mammals are discovered in the new planet’s oceans, transmitting a cryptic message.

Adam Garnet Jones (Cree/Métis) is an Indigiqueer author, filmmaker, and bead-worker from Edmonton, Alberta. Adam’s award-winning films about indigenous peoples in Canada, especially his 2015 feature debut Fire Song and its 2018 novelization, led to his current position with APTN, the Aboriginal Peoples’ Television Network. He leads content development and advocacy for Indigenous creators, founding the role of Indigenous Initiatives Lead at Telefilm Canada and the Canada Media Fund. In that role, Adam guided the creation and implementation of a historic new fund for Indigenous feature filmmakers. More about Adam on his website – adamgarnetjones.com.
