Spaces and places play an important role in the life of our communities - and they can have a major impact on our moods and our wellbeing. In this relaxed, interactive workshop, we will explore what makes spaces feel safe, welcoming and inclusive and what can make them feel unsafe, impersonal or inaccessible.
Using a variety of props, sounds and light sources, we'll consider the signals our senses send to our brains when we encounter different environments and how we recognise and respond to changes in atmosphere. We'll use photography to capture the stage sets we create but there will be no pressure to appear in any photographs if you do not want to.
There will be no pressure to perform during this workshop, but you are welcome to bring any instruments you play or sound recordings you've made. If you'd like to bring portable items (e.g. textiles, ornaments, artwork) which convey meaning to you, you're also welcome to do so.
