SCAMP Network Presents: Methodological Perspectives...
Overview
Are you a PGR working in Critical Disability Studies (CDS) or the Medical Humanities (MH), or are you interested in learning more about these disciplines? Would you like to join an interdisciplinary, PGR-led community that aims to combat ableism in academia and foster new connections across MH and CDS? Join us for a one-day hybrid training event on the 12th of December at the Advanced Research Centre at the University of Glasgow!
In-person attendance is limited to to PhD researchers across all Arts and Humanities subjects, based in Scotland and registered at a Higher Education Institution member of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (both SGSAH-funded and non-SGSAH-funded students). Spaces are limited so be quick to secure your spot! Online attendance is open to anyone interested.
This one-day training event will consist of networking opportunities and two 90-minute workshops, each with a focus on methodologies originating from MH/CDS respectively, and both seeking to investigate how these approaches can be applied across discipline boundaries. The Medical Humanities workshop will be led by Dr Mila Daskalova (UofG) and the Critical Disability Studies workshop by Hannah Duffew (UofE). Our event will offer interdisciplinary training in methodological approaches and serve to launch the SCAMP (Scottish Critical Disability Studies and Medical Humanities PGR) Network. The event is funded by SGSAH Cohort Development Fund and supported by the SGSAH Philosophy Discipline+ Catalyst, Medical Humanities Research Centre (UofG), and the Centre for Disability Research (UofG).
Lunch is included for in-person attendees. You will be prompted to let us know about dietary requirements when you secure your ticket.
There will be an opportunity to let us know of any access requirements you wish us to be aware of when you reserve your ticket. The venue has wheelchair access and is located close to wheelchair accessible restrooms and a quiet space. The room has hearing loop enabled, although the functionality of this is dependent on what model of hearing aid is being used (more modern versions may not be compatible). There will be a BSL interpreter at the event. Please let us know if you have any other accessibility requirements when you register for attendance. If you have any concerns or queries, please get in touch at scamp.ntwrk@gmail.com.
