Overview

Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) have partnered with the Wright Brothers Institute to present "Scaling your Defense Portfolio: Accounting Systems and Indirect Rates" on 15 June 2023. This is the first of a series of colliders focused on helping small businesses' understand the accounting systems, proposal content and voucher submissions required to enable the award of cost type and larger dollar value fixed priced contracts. The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) provides accounting and audit services to the entire DoD enterprise. For this first event, you will learn about the DCAA mission, what is expected and required of your accounting system in order to receive a cost-type contract award and how indirect rates are defined and audited. This is foundational knowledge needed by any small business desiring to receive or expand their portfolio of cost-type or larger dollar value fixed price contracts.

Ms. Michelle Baldwin, HQ DCAA, will be presenting and available to answer your questions. Ms. Baldwin has extensive experience in evaluating and auditing accounting systems. She is leading DCAA's efforts in increasing small business engagement and understanding of DoD's cost accounting requirements.

Future colliders will include topics such as proposal adequacy and voucher submission.
