SBS-APEX: Generating Revenue Through NYC Discretionary Spending, 04/23/2026

Every day, the government buys billions of dollars' worth of goods and services from businesses. In an ongoing effort to assist businesses interested in selling to the government, the New York City Department of Small Business Services APEX Accelerator offers Technical Assistance.

The M/WBE Small Purchasing Program offers M/WBEs the opportunity to engage in government contracting. Participants will learn about eligibility requirements, procurement policies, and the vendor selection process. The program covers strategies for marketing and networking with government buyers, along with tools like SBS Connect and PASSPort to access opportunities. Topics also include the history and impact of small purchasing programs, as well as best practices for engaging with discretionary purchases. By the end, M/WBEs will be equipped to effectively communicate and navigate the government procurement process
