Conserving water in the drought-prone Bay Area is so important, and this workshop will teach you several ways to do so. These can be as simple as having your plumbing checked for leaks to installing drip irrigation and greywater systems. Our expert instructor will explain these methods and answer your questions so you can choose the water-saving techniques that are appropriate for your home.

Instructor Kat Sawyer strives to make the Bay Area more resilient by implementing natural water management strategies in homes, schools, and public places. As Greening Urban Watersheds Program Manager for The Watershed Project, Kat develops green infrastructure throughout the city of Richmond, constructing rain gardens and bioswales that demonstrate ways to manage urban stormwater with landscapes. Kat has designed and built rainwater catchment systems in more than 25 San Francisco public schools, engaging volunteers from each school community in the process. Kat educates the public about water reclamation and re-use, directing her efforts towards tangible activities that encourage people to become better water stewards in an urban environment.
