No, you do not have to pay the fee at the gate. Please tell the gate rangers that you are heading to the program sponsored by the Sandy Hook Foundation at the lifesaving station.

You may park at the north end of Lot D and walk up the boardwalk to Spermaceti Lifesaving Station.

SAVING THE HORSESHOE CRAB WITH EDUCATOR & CONSERVATIONIST DAVE GRANT

There is no animal more maligned and at the same time more worthy of attention than the horseshoe crab.

Join us for a presentation with Conservation Director at the Shark Research Institute, Dave Grant, to learn about horseshoe crabs and their significance at Sandy Hook.

The event will highlight their ecological role, medical value, and even their misunderstood reputation.

Our program leader Dave has presented teacher-training materials in every coastal state and overseas. He is currently the Conservation Director at the Shark Research Institute in Princeton, NJ, and is the former Director of the Brookdale College Ocean Institute at Sandy Hook. When not teaching or researching, Dave spends his summer breaks working as crew, lecturer, and scientist-in-residence on NOAA expedition vessels and on winter breaks on expedition cruises in Antarctica.
