Overview

An opportunity to listen, learn and invite change with community leaders.

We the People: Conversations that Move Us Forward

Emmy-award winning journalist and host Robin Hamilton and her production company is hosting a small community town hall and listening session in partnership with the International African American Museum on November 21st as part of her civic engagement podcast, Democracy Does: The Civic Power Playbook.

This event is designed to create a space for open, authentic dialogue — to hear directly from local leaders and residents about the most pressing challenges communities are facing under current policies, and to explore how grassroots organizations like yours are helping people feel informed, empowered, and connected.

The session is not a debate or a presentation — it’s a collaborative conversation. The goal is to listen, learn, and lift up community voices, and to feature Charleston’s unique perspective as part of a larger national conversation on civic power and democracy.
