The First Annual Amethyst Event for Recovery is about raising financial support, awareness, and enthusiasm for Recovery Corps as a solution to the long-standing and acute crisis of substance use disorder.

A Time of Connection

In this time of distancing and isolation, Recovery Corps provides a critical connection.

Recovery Corps activates the power of empathy and connection to help more individuals sustain their recovery, using an evidence-based model that delivers measurable impact. Recovery Corps directly supports individuals in rebuilding their lives after substance use disorder and strengthens our state’s capacity to serve them.

During this virtual event, we will celebrate the power of connection with opportunities to meet and network with members of Minnesota’s recovery community, supporters, and leaders. Guests will hear from current and former Recovery Corps Navigators about their experiences of service and the impact it's made on their lives. Those who attend the event will:

Learn about the impact of Recovery Corps through first hand stories from direct service and capacity-building alumni of the program
Connect with other Recovery Corps champions and recovery advocates in an engaging, virtual social hour session
Have the opportunity to invest in an evidence-based, Minnesota-developed program with national ambition.

What is Recovery Corps?

Recovery Corps is an 11-month program designed specifically for people in recovery to guide other individuals who are earlier on in their recovery journeys. AmeriCorps members, serving as Recovery Navigators, provide mentoring, peer support, and resource navigation to help people build their recovery. The Recovery Navigator is not a sponsor or counselor, but a trained peer who understands the journey of recovery. Recovery Corps also trains and places Project Coordinators, who do not work directly with those in Recovery, but instead help boost the capacity of recovery-focused organizations and agencies in Minnesota. Recovery Corps is a strategic initiative of ServeMinnesota, the nonprofit in charge of the state’s largest AmeriCorps programs.
