Where will the march be held?

The march will start at 11:30am on Monday, April 17th by the Carousel on the National Mall. We will meet in the middle of the Mall on 9th St. NW between Madison St. NW and Jefferson St. SW. The march end point is the Taft Memorial on Constitution Ave. between New Jersey Ave. and 1st St. NW.

Fill out a volunteer form at wemarchfourth.org/volunteer. We are a volunteer run organization and we are always looking for help!

What airport should I fly into for the march?

Accepted Answer

There are no airports in DC proper, but DC has three excellent airports nearby. The closest and easiest airport is Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, VA.

Is there a hotel recommended if I want to stay overnight?

We’ve reserved a room block at the Capitol Hill Hotel (https://www.capitolhillhotel-dc.com/) at 200 C St. SE, Washington, DC 20003. It is just under a mile from the U.S. Capitol and 1.4 miles from where the march will start. Note: Reservations for the block ended on 4/7.

What does the march entail?

We’ll meet at the Carousel on the National Mall where the march will begin to distribute t-shirts, signs, and flags beginning at 11am. The march will start at 11:30am.

We will begin marching (walking) and chanting as we walk toward the Taft Memorial. It's an approximately 1 mile walk.

Are there any events happening after the march?

After lunch, there will be the option to head back to the Hill to drop off literature about H.R.698 / S.25, the Assault Weapons Ban bill, to every House congressional office (and possibly the Senate, too). We expect to be finished by around 3-4pm on the 17th, but you are free to leave at any time.

Will lunch be available?

Yes! We’re arranging lunch on Capitol Hill after the march where we’ll discuss additional ways to get involved and help us pass the Assault Weapons Ban.

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

We’ll be distributing teal, short sleeve t-shirts onsite before the march. NOTE: Shirts are first come, first served and require an RSVP.  Children's shirts also available. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended!

Will it be safe?

Accepted Answer

The march may be on the safest ground in America. We will be marching on National Park Service land to the Capitol Hill campus—both places with their own police forces and under very watchful eyes. National Park Service, D.C., and U.S. Capitol Police's officers are assigned to our location.
