Join us for an evening of Hindustani classical music featuring two distinguished sarod artists, each offering a full solo performance in the rich tradition of North Indian ragas.
Steve Oda, senior disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, brings over five decades of study and performance to the stage. His music reflects the depth, clarity, and meditative beauty of the Maihar gharana. https://steveoda.com/
Sougata Roy Chowdhury, one of India’s most respected sarod players, carries forward a lineage that traces back to Miyan Tansen. His artistry is known for its lyrical subtlety and powerful expression, weaving together devotion and mastery.
Each artist will present their own program, allowing audiences to experience the unique voice and style they bring to the sarod. Listeners will be guided through the unfolding of raga — from the spacious, contemplative alap to the rhythmic vitality of gat and jhala — offering a complete journey into this timeless tradition.
Whether you are a longtime connoisseur or new to Indian classical music, this evening promises to be a rare opportunity to experience the depth, nuance, and spiritual resonance of the sarod in its purest form. https://www.sarodedivine.com/

Currently, he hosts traditional concert gatherings in Oakland and Sebastopol, CA.
Nilan Chauduri is a Bay Area–based tabla player, educator, and performer. He started training at age five under his father, Pt.
