Will there be parking and handicap parking?

Accepted Answer

Event parking will be provided right next to the entrance to the festival as well as additional lots that are a one block walk. Handicap parking will be in the lot next to the venue. We will post a map of parking a few weeks prior listing that will include the FREE lots and bus parking.

Question 2

Why do I need a camera or my phone camera to see the 3D Illusions?

Accepted Answer

Personal photography is allowed. Your brain is really smart and corrects what your seeing to what it knows is true, the ground is flat. The camera on the other hand has no judgement and will show you exactly what it is is seeing. (It is more complicated than this but this is the quick answer :)

What if it rains?

Accepted Answer

The 3D illusions will NOT be affected as well as many of the pavement art and flower carpets. We will cover some of the delicate works, then wait for the rain to stop, and then artists go right back to work to repair them.

What is not allowed?

Accepted Answer

No pets of any kind. No bags, backpacks, or large purses (items subject to search).No bicycles, skateboards or any of this type .No outside beverages, alcohol or food.No drugs or smoking. No solicitation or signs. No firearms, or weapons of any kind

Question 5

Will you have a military discount?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we appreciate those who served. Please look for military tickets that are offered at a discount. Military is ID required at the gate - if no Military ID is presented, ticket holder can use the value of the ticket to purchase an entry ticket for the day of the ticket.

Question 6

Is professional photography, drones or video allowed?

Accepted Answer

No, professional photo equipment, drones or video are now allowed at this private cultural art. Professionals can ask for an appointment and prior written consent by the Sarasota Int'l Chalk Festival executive director, Denise Kowal.  All reporters and professionals should reach out for approval.

Question 7

Did the event used to be FREE?

Accepted Answer

The Chalk Festival collected donation from 2007 - 2015 and made budget just one time in those years (2014). It has been ticketed since 2016. This year we will pay travel for 150, 900 rooms, and 2500 meals for artists that are here for  two weeks to create art, and Sarasota fees are roughly 25K .

Question 8

Are pets allowed?

Accepted Answer

No pets of any kind are allowed inside this private event - remember artists are working on the ground.  No emotional support pets, no therapy pets, no comfort pets, and no companion animals of any kind. Please leave all those extended family pets home for the few hours while you come and enjoy!

Question 9

If the festival handicap accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all access for ticket holders starts and stays on the street level to view the artwork, one level.
