Frequently Asked Questions

Will my infant child need a ticket?

Children under 12 months old do not need a ticket. Those under 12 months old will not get a goody bag unless a ticket is purchased. Infants must be listed during registration—capacity limits are in place with Metra and all people must be accounted for onboard.

My child/I have allergies, will the cookies have allergens?

Special cookies will be purchased for those who have allergies. Allergies must be listed when purchasing tickets. Please reach out to Michelle Podkowa at mpodkowa@wheatonparks.org with questions.

Are there refunds?

There are no refunds but tickets are transferrable. If you transfer tickets to another family, please let Michelle Podkowa know immediately at mpodkowa@wheatonparks.org.

How fast do they sell out?

Santa Express tickets usually sell out within the first 24-48 hours. Some trains sell out even quicker.

Can I dress in my PJs and bring my own Polar Express book?

Yes, and Yes. We encourage people who have the book to bring it. While we use a microphone, it is difficult to hear the story if other riders are loud. We do show the pictures to everyone as we read but it will be easier for a child to see the pictures in their own book as well. Many children dress in their PJs but it is not necessary. Whatever the child and parents are most comfortable in will work for the trip. Please dress for the weather, we will still have to wait outside on the train platform for the train and occasionally the train is late.
