About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Tonight Michael Taft will interview Dr. Tucker Peck about his recently published book, Sanity and Sainthood, which explores the intersection of meditation and psychotherapy. Sanity & Sainthood explores how meditation reveals our inner wounds—and how psychotherapy can help us heal what we find. The book will be available for purchase at the event — or, if you already have a copy, feel free to bring it to get signed.

Meditation can bring peace and mental stability, as described in ancient Buddhist texts. Meditation also gives us clear comprehension, which is an ability to see what's going on inside our minds. While at times this can be wonderful, for most people, this will result in periods where we notice how much pain and dysfunction exists within our own psyche. In Sanity and Sainthood, clinical psychologist and longtime meditation teacher Dr. Tucker Peck shows how to use the tools of psychotherapy to help heal the wounds that meditation reveals. This book will give you an introduction to key concepts in Theravada Buddhist philosophy and meditation, as well as an introduction to various schools of psychotherapy.

With wit and insight, Tucker has a knack for demystifying difficult subjects. In 'Sanity and Sainthood' he takes readers on an entertaining and informative exploration of the ways the dharma and psychology offer practitioners a mutually supportive environment for healing and self-discovery. –Sharon Salzberg, bestselling author of Lovingkindness and Real Life

This event will be in-person and streamed online. Books will be available onsite for purchase.
