This event is intended for “BB” (Intermediate) level players. BB players should be able to pass, set and hit the ball, keeping play going most of the time. We prefer to play 2 players per side as much as possible. We will play on two courts when we have enough players and both courts are available. We try to follow sand tournament rules (no tipping, no open hand serve receive, etc.) (However, we are more relaxed about calling double contacts while hand setting, so that we can practice and improve.)
NOTE: Most of the new players who come to our events assume they are intermediate or advanced level players because they play often and/or are better than others that they normally play with; they are surprised to find they are not able to keep play going with the rest of us. We usually play at the sand courts in Brandon near SR 60 and Parsons Ave behind the Brandon Community Center located at address: 502 E Sadie St, Brandon, FL 33510
We start at 5:30 and usually play for at least a couple hours, weather permitting. DO NOT JUST SHOW UP TO PLAY. We limit the number of players to 9, in order to be able to play 2’s. (Three teams of 2’s and one team of 3’s when everyone is there.) To limit the number of players and to make sure we have enough players, we sign up for each event on an Eventbrite page. We also penalize players who sign up but do not show up for events and don’t cancel their RSVP.
