We recommend building department staff attend the first two sessions. We recommend builders, electrical/mechanical subcontractors, designers, code official, energy consultants, and utility or program partners attend the builder roundtable session in the afternoon.

Why should building department staff come? Who within the local jurisdictions should come?

Nonresidential inspectors and plan checkers will find the forums useful to stay current on Title 24 Part 6 updates, receive training, share local enforcement challenges, and align with neighboring jurisdictions for more consistent and efficient code implementation.

Why should builders come?

It’s a rare opportunity to speak directly with regulators and industry experts working to make energy code compliance more practical, consistent, and builder-friendly across the region.

Can other people listen in the training session?

Yes. However, the training session is designed for building department staff.

Can anyone come to the Jurisdiction-Only session?

No. This session will be hybrid to allow for authorities having jurisdiction from afar to participate. Only jurisdiction staff or representatives are allowed.

Energy Code Training for Building Department Staff (In-Person Only)

The California Energy Commission (CEC), California Energy Alliance, and acceptance testing technician certification providers (ATTCP) will provide Energy Code training covering important Energy Code topics. Attendees will learn about major updates to the 2025 Energy Code that goes into effect on January 1, 2026. Attendees will also learn about the Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider Program and acceptance testing for nonresidential buildings. This will conclude with a 20-minute question and answer session with California Energy Commission staff.

Jurisdiction-Only Advisory Board for the Energy Code Study (Hybrid)

Interactive discussion with AHJs on the Energy Code Study. The Energy Code Study is a U.S. Department of Energy-backed study led by the California Energy Commission to improve understanding of California Energy Code compliance across the state. This effort will inform scoping of the study plan and shape the study’s data gathering process. The study’s goal is to provide insight on Energy Code refinements to improve compliance, support enforcement, and workforce development needs by documenting trends and regional nuances.
