Samhain Night by Candlelight- Reviving the old ways
Overview
Together in the stillness of a yurt, lit only by candlelight, we gather to honour our ancestors, our beloved dead, and the fading year. Through shared ritual, song, silence, reflection, and a simple feast, we will create a sacred space between worlds, a place to remember, reconnect, and return.
This is not just a night of ceremony, but of calling back the old ways. A gathering in community, tending the altar, speaking the names of those who came before, and making space for their presence among us.
We offer food to those who have passed; soup, bread, and sweet offerings, laid out as a shared meal with our ancestors. We will sip Mugwort tea to support our journey and connection with our ancestors. And we will sit together in reverence, song, and reflection.
Come if you feel the call to remember. To sit at the threshold. To revive what was nearly forgotten.
What to expect:
✨ A space of remembrance
✨ An alter to our loved ones passed
✨ A return to our roots
✨ Ancient songs
✨ A return to the old ways
This is a night for stillness, depth, and warmth for those who feel the call to honour their ancestors, sit with the turning of the year, and reconnect with the timeless cycle of life and death.
Your facilitator:
Hannah Rose is an English song gatherer and folk vocalist with no fixed abode, devoted to reviving the old ways through song, story, and soul.
Rooted in a love for ancient traditions, she travels with her voice and an open heart, collecting songs and tales from the landscapes she finds herself in. Her special love for ancient songs from the British Isles in particular began as something beyond learning, it felt like remembrance, like a homecoming.
Hannah sees old songs as living bridges to our ancestors. In their melodies and lyrics lie the joys and griefs, longings and losses of those who came before us, made suddenly human, suddenly close. She believes that to sing these songs is not only to preserve history, but to feel it: to awaken memory in the bones and spirit, where time folds in on itself.
Alongside her music, Hannah carries a deep reverence for folk lifeways, the wildness of nature, and the quiet magic of simpler times. Her work is an offering, a call to reconnect with the land, the old stories, and the threads that still tie us to those who walked these paths long before.
