This event focuses on designing safer spaces through behavioral and psychological nudges, instead of hostile architecture, increased law enforcement or penalization. The workshop will blend Complete Streets and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design to provide attendees with the knowledge and training necessary to begin implementing strategies for safer communities. Based on interdisciplinary research and case studies, Charles Brown, the CEO and founder of Equitable Cities,will delve into discussions about building safer spaces with care, in a way that is equitable, fair, and effective. The daytime workshop is from 9AM to 3PM and will also include an optional nighttime walk audit of the campus, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM, involving participants in exploring how their surroundings can be adapted for increased safety.
