Docomomo Tour Day for 2025 highlights Sacred Spaces in Berkeley, just south of campus. Join us on Saturday, October 11th for a walking tour lead by Chad DeWitt, vice president of the Northern California chapter. On our tour, we’ll trace the evolution of Bay Area church design seeing examples of First, Second and Third Bay modernism, ending with an example of Brutalism.

The tour will feature:

  • 1967 Newman Center, designed by Mario Ciampi (interior)
  • 1974 St. John’s Presbyterian, by Ostwald and Kelley (interior)
