Instructor Bio:
Sahar Farooqui Khundmiri is a Los Angeles-based sound artist and sitarist whose work bridges Hindustani classical music, Sufì mysticism, and vibrational healing. Rooted in her South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim heritage, she creates immersive soundscapes that evoke a safar, or spiritual journey through sound.
Trained in sitar, raga, and voice under maestro Rajib Karmakar, Sahar blends classical technique with crystal bowls, chimes, and devotional elements like zikr and Sufi poetry. With a Master's in Religious Studies, her practice draws from the intersections of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism to create spaces of reflection and rest.
Her offerings range from public soundbaths to site-specific installations, where sound becomes both sacred ritual and living art.
