Event Description
This course is a series of practical sessions designed to support all class teachers in developing evidence-based approaches to classroom management. It is not for any specific group of teaching staff: those who are new to the profession (such as ECTs) or others who have been teaching for many years are equally welcome.
The course is split into 5 sessions. The first 3 will be led by some key content and practical ideas (enabling school staff to reflect on their own practice) with the following 2 as ‘drop-ins’ for problem solving discussions and sharing effective practice. The key themes for sessions 1-3 are:
Session 1: Teaching style and setting up your classroom for positive behaviour (25th Sept)
Session 2: Considering feedback, rules, routines and directions (23 Oct)
Session 3: Managing more challenging circumstances (27 Nov)
(Sessions 4 & 5: Supervision & support sessions) (22 Jan & 26 Feb 2026)
Aims/Objectives
· To enhance teacher confidence in running a positive classroom
· To develop teacher skills and repertoire of effective strategies for positive behaviour
· To develop a network of practitioners across Plymouth and surrounding districts who wish to explore and share new ideas and practical strategies
