Tuft a Skateboard Rug with Zing

Join a one-day, beginner-friendly rug tufting workshop led by Isabella Carapella, founder of Zing, in collaboration with Flower Skate Shop. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of using a cut-pile tufting gun while creating your own rug skateboard deck, perfect as wall art or even a functional skateboard.

You’ll learn how to:

Set up your tufting frame
Thread and operate the tufting gun
Maneuver your stitching for clean lines and even texture
Apply glue and backing to finish your piece

All materials and equipment are provided. Flower Skate Shop has generously donated skateboard decks for the class and is offering a discount on trucks and wheels if you’d like to make your board rideable.

When you sign up, you can submit your own 3-color design (as a JPG) sized to the skateboard shape, or choose from a selection of premade designs provided in class.

By the end of the 4–5 hour session, you’ll walk away with:

Your finished skateboard rug
A printed step-by-step guide covering everything you learned
Access to Zing’s private Slack channel, where you can connect with other students, share progress, and keep creating

Isabella will assemble the finished boards after class, they’ll be ready for pickup or shipping within 3–4 days. If you’d like your board shipped, a $20 shipping fee applies.

Workshops are kept small (limit of 4 students) to allow for plenty of one-on-one instruction and creative support.

Optional add-ons are available to purchase your own tufting gun or full starter kit after class. Please allow at least 2 weeks for fulfillment if selecting these add-ons.
