The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates that work on pre-1978 residential structures must be carried out by a Certified Renovator following lead-safe practices under the RRP rule. This law applies to both interior and exterior renovations.

Initial Certification: 8-hour training (2 hours hands-on).
Maintaining Certification: Complete a refresher course before expiration.
Certification Duration: 3 years for online course, 5 years for hands-on.
If certification expires, retake the 8-hour course.
