MN ASQ Biomedical Consortium Presents:

Root Cause Analysis:  Applying Tools in the Toolbox

OverviewEffective Root Cause Analysis relies on the successful application of quality tools.  This half-day workshop will cover basic tools that individuals and teams can use to identify and confirm that a root cause or causes have been identified.  In addition, the tools will be placed in the context of a problem solving process so that participants can also see how the tools can be used together.

As a result of attending this workshop participants will be able to:

-        define basic quality tools that can be used to identify and confirm a root cause (or causes) have been identified,

-        describe where and how each of the tools can be used as part of a root cause analysis, and

-        use each tool for root cause identification.

The workshop will utilize lecture, discussion and a hands-on example to illustrate the use of each tool.  Tools covered in the workshop include: Run Chart, Control Chart, Check Sheet, Pareto Chart, Is / Is Not, Problem Definition, Cause and Effect Diagram, and 5 Whys.
