Midweek Rooftop Art-Journaling Sessions with Viola @viola.artstudio

Summer Wednesdays | 6–7 PM | Light Studios Rooftop, Plymouth

Come and join expressive mixed media artist Viola Hortova for relaxed, rooftop art journaling sessions at Light Studios, Plymouth — a midweek after-work creative break to reconnect with your sketchbook, your imagination, and the joy of playful art-making.

Each session is a gentle invitation to return to your creative self. You’ll explore simple but meaningful art prompts and exercises that help you let go of perfection, build a daily creative habit, and just have fun.

These workshops will introduce you to different ways of filling your sketchbook pages with ease and curiosity - from mindful mark-making, intuitive drawing, and collaging to short reflective writing and colour play.

Together, we’ll explore new ways of looking at art and yourself, make space to be present, and experiment without pressure. Expect gentle (but fun) guidance, supportive group energy, and lots of room to simply enjoy being creative.

Frequently asked questions

What is art journaling?

Art journaling can be something different to everyone.. but to me it's a creative practice combining visual art (like drawing, painting, collage) with written reflections or thoughts, all within a journal format. It’s a personal, expressive way to explore your creativity and emotions.

Do I need to have any art experience to join?

No prior experience is needed! This workshop is for everyone! Beginners, hobbyists, or experienced artists. The focus is on exploration and enjoyment, not perfection.

What materials do I need to bring?

A sketchbook or journal (any size) and any art materials you have, or want to work with :)

What if I’m late or need to leave early?

If you arrive late, there will be a paper with my contact number inside the entrance - please let me know you’ve arrived and I will come down to get you. Leaving early is okay, just try to stay for as much as you can.

Will there be instructions or prompts?

Yes! I provide easy prompts and guidance to inspire your art journaling, but there’s plenty of room for your own creativity. Also, every session will be a bit different :)
