Romeo & Juliet in Space

FruitBag Theatre is absolutely stoked to announce its first full length play, Romeo and Juliet IN SPACE, Written by William Shakespeare and Adapted by Director Sydney Barcus. The show opens at the Verge Theater June 20th 2025, and runs through July 6th 2025 with a week long break between, no performances on the 4th of July, and Sunday matinees. Audiences can expect sci-fi violence, special effects, fantasy drug use, and queer displays of affection. Parental guidance is recommended for audience goers under 13. 

Inspired by science fiction of years gone by, such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and Flash Gordon, Romeo and Juliet IN SPACE is a refreshing take on the classic and tragic tale of star-crossed lovers. On planet Verona, tensions between the astronaut exploration team, mission Montague and the alien Capulets who inhabit the planet. Danger, romance, revenge, and tragedy ensue. 

This production will feature fabulous dance choreography from Quin Vulk, vibrant costumes from local drag artist Atlas Gilbert (also known as Special Kay), epic fights arranged by Emma Rathe,  and an incredible cast and crew of LGBTQ+ performers and allies who really bring the timeless Shakespearean tale to life in new and exciting ways, creating a beautiful, campy and thought-provoking experience for attendees.
