Heroes and Villains is an exhibition of fine art photography, painting, and illustration inspired by the multi-billion-dollar comic book world and its subsequent popular media. It seeks to bring together artists from desperate backgrounds working across a multitude of mediums. Together, they explore their own interpretations of the superhero/villain phenomenon and its wider implications. From the earliest introduction of this source material in the work of renowned pop artist Roy Lichtenstein to the Incredible Hulk sculptures of contemporary artist Jeff Koons, it is clear that the fine art world can no longer brush aside comics culture as "low-brow" or insignificant in our cultural canon.
