About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Hiking

Due to popular demand, we are again offering this guided walk. At Spiral House Park, sculptor Tom Gottsleben shaped stone into art – drawing inspiration from the natural world, especially the bluestone beneath his feet. But the land itself tells an even older story.

This very site once lay at the bottom of a deep sea – 400 million years ago. Not long after, towering mountains rose to the east, feeding a vast delta that spread across eastern New York. Then, just 25,000 years ago, a massive ice sheet carved its way across the land.

Now, a new geology trail is taking shape to help visitors explore this incredible natural history. Join geologist and science writer Dr. Robert Titus for a guided walk through the ancient landscapes hidden in plain sight – and discover the layered stories written in the rocks of Spiral House Park.
