🕊️ Roadmap to a Beloved Community Tour

A Cultural Walking Tour Connecting Boston’s Shared Histories

Join the Afrimerican Academy as we continue the BRL88 journey through Dorchester and Mattapan, exploring the intertwined histories of African American and Jewish American communities who shaped Boston’s social, cultural, and moral fabric.

This tour, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community, invites participants to reflect on cooperation, cultural equity, and shared resilience in the face of redlining and urban renewal.

We’ll explore key landmarks that represent both solidarity and struggle — uncovering how faith, art, and neighborhood life formed lasting bonds across cultural lines.

🌍 About the Tour

The Roadmap to a Beloved Community is part of Boston Redline 88 (BRL88) — a month-long Black History Month event series highlighting Boston’s lost and living cultural hubs.

This experience merges storytelling and civic reflection, mapping the evolution of two communities whose collaboration helped define Boston’s moral and cultural progress — and continues to guide its path toward justice and inclusion.

🌍 About BRL88

Boston Redline 88 (BRL88) is a month-long cultural campaign produced by the Afrimerican Academy (@afrimericanone) celebrating 88 years since the 1938 redlining map of Boston. Through film, tours, and dialogue, BRL88 reclaims space, challenges inequity, and nurtures the vision of Rev. Dr. King’s Beloved Community.
