About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed for individuals who struggle with excessive self-control, a core feature in many treatment- resistant disorders, including eating disorders. One core treatment component of RO DBT is the skills class, which includes a series of thirty structured lessons designed to build: 1) openness, 2) flexibility, and 3) intimacy and connection with others. This experiential presentation will introduce participants to essential concepts and terminology used in RO DBT skills classes, with a specific focus on skills that promote flexible thinking and engaging in novel behaviors - two areas often challenging for individuals with eating disorders. Attendees will gain an overview of the RO DBT skills class structure and content, with an emphasis on practical interventions and RO DBT language that clinicians can apply when working with overcontrolled clients.
