Overview

Join us to celebrate the healing powers of our voices, the written word, and horses!

Gestaltist, somatic practitioner, author and equine wisdom weaver, Christin Staszesky is LIVE for a 75 minute experiential book reading. Riding Fences: poems from the crossed county of my body, is a memoir written in poems that tells the story of childhood trauma and the winding journey of recovery.

The first step toward healing from sexual abuse, and all abuse, is to admit that it happened. What comes next is a rough, jagged road…one that is impossible to walk alone. This is not an easy topic. However in order to bring awareness and healing, it needs to be brought into the light and out from the darkness of secrecy.

Christin will offer a brief introduction, then do a 15 minute reading of a handful of selected works from her book, Riding Fences. There will be time for Q & A after the reading. She will invite us into a brief (optional) writing practice, and since she will be joining from the barn, you will also get to meet some horses!

This is for all who are curious about the healing power of horses, how to use the written word for healing and expression and those who are survivors themselves, or know of someone who is. Come if you want to be inspired, hear a recovery story, are a poet or not, love writing and wish you could or are a writer already, to learn that you are not alone or just to meet some horses. All are welcome.
