Rhythm and Percussion Workshop with Sylvie Zakarian
Join us for this interdisciplinary workshop providing a holistic exposure to rhythm through movement and actual percussion playing. We will be engaged in learning all 3 major categories of percussion playing --drums, mallet percussion, and auxiliary percussion. This offering will broaden and enhance the students’ understanding of rhythm. The participants will work on transforming the melodic line into comprehensive and connected rhythm patterns. We will focus on using rhythm as an organizational tool for music making.
No previous percussion playing experience is required - all are welcome!
In-person workshop only.
