The purpose of the “Rewriting Your Story: Beyond the Bars, Changing the Narrative” Teen & Young Adult Summit is to create a powerful space for dialogue, healing, and transformation. This summit is designed to change the narrative for our youth and young adults who face daily challenges at home, in school, and throughout the community.

By addressing the interconnected issues of gun violence, community violence, youth incarceration, recidivism, and mental health, the summit seeks to break cycles that limit opportunity and foster resilience instead. Through open forums, panel discussions, and breakout sessions led by community leaders and advocates, participants will be empowered to share their voices, explore solutions, and build pathways toward safer, healthier, and more hopeful futures.

At its core, this gathering is about rewriting stories—helping young people see themselves not as defined by struggle or circumstance, but as leaders, innovators, and change-makers with the power to shape their own destinies and transform the communities around them.
