By the time you finish a draft of a story, you are mired in the minutaie, and you probably are struggling with weighing the small details against the bigger picture of your story as a whole. This can make editing and revising a pain. Fortunately, there's a solution.

Join author A.P. Hawkins for this workshop in which she'll share the magic of reverse outlining — that is, creating an outline based on your completed draft. It allows you to take a high-level at your progress and identify areas that may need revision.

Whether you've finished your first-ever first draft or you're a seasoned writer with many completed works under your belt, you're sure to gain valuable techniques and insights from this workshop.

A.P. Hawkins is a co-founder of Tomeworks, a collective of genre fiction editors who are passionate about helping authors build better books. She is also a speculative fiction author and editor based in Houston, Texas. She discovered her love for writing at a young age, when she spent weekends penning Lord of the Rings fanfiction into spiral notebooks. But it wasn’t until after earning a Master’s degree in plant community ecology that she decided she wanted to turn her love of writing fiction into a career.

Writespace is Houston's writing center. Founded in April of 2014, we are a grassroots literary arts organization founded by writers, for writers. At Writespace, we support writers of all genres, including writers of literary fiction, poetry, science-fiction, fantasy, mystery, young adult, and other genres. Through our weekly writing workshops led by some of Houston's finest writing teachers, we seek to give writers who can't afford to earn an MFA in Creative Writing the same high-quality training and mentorship opportunities available through MFA programs.
