About this event
- Event lasts 6 hours
What stories about your life do you tell yourself? Where did those stories come from? How well do they serve you? Would you like to hear some new stories?
We invite you to “ReStory” yourself through the guidance of Regi Carpenter, a nationally renowned storyteller and pioneer in narrative medicine. This workshop will provide a safe, creative space for you to explore and express your experiences of having mental health challenges. You will be led to observe your life events from various viewpoints, with the hope that you can recognize your trauma and foster healing. You will come in closer contact with your stories, old and new.
The workshop will start with Regi sharing a story that will serve as a prompt to reflect, then write or draw your own story. You will have the opportunity – without obligation – to explore that story in pairs and small groups. The workshop will end with all who care to sharing their story. Appreciations and wonderings will be woven throughout the entire day.
Note that this workshop does not constitute professional therapy. It serves as a creative outlet for healing.
In order to provide all participants proper attention, this workshop will be capped at 20 registrants. Some scholarships are available; contact info@inmi.us for more information.
The workshop cost is $90. This includes:
- Five hours of workshop activity led by Regi
- Lunch catered by Sweetgreen Restaurant. Dietary needs and preferences will be accommodated.
- Free admission to Regi’s Friday night performance at Atonement Lutheran Church
We look forward to seeing you on this meaningful day!
This workshop is presented by the Interfaith Network on Mental Illness.
