Holiday Care for Widows: A Charlotte Supper Club at Leo’s Italian Social

Holiday Care for Widows: A Charlotte Supper Club at Leo’s Italian Social

By Andria Gaskins

Overview

A warm, holiday-season dinner gathering in Charlotte for widows ready for in-person connection.

Some nights dinner can feel like the loneliest part of the day, especially around Christmas.

Everyone else seems to have parties to attend, traditions to keep, and someone to dress up and go out with. You want to try something new, but the life you had before is gone. And the life you’re “supposed” to step into now can make you feel like a social misfit in the middle of all the twinkling lights.

If you’re a widow, you might feel:

  • Like you don’t want to hide away for another holiday, but you can’t go back to “before”
  • Like you want connection, but not in rooms where people don’t understand the weight you carry this time of year
  • Like you want to say yes to life again, but you’re not sure where to start or if you’ll fit

I get it, because I’ve lived it.

After my husband Scott died, my old life—and especially the way we did Christmas—disappeared almost overnight. I needed one simple thing: a place to go where I could just be while I tried to figure things out.

That’s why I created The RESTORED Widow Supper Club. This isn’t just “going out to eat.”

It’s a monthly dinner—including during the holidays—for widows who don’t want to live behind the scenes while everyone else’s life seems to move forward and who are:

  • Hungry for real conversation with women who get it
  • Curious about who they’re becoming in this new chapter
  • Not ready (or willing) to pretend everything is “fine” just because it’s Christmas

What to Expect

At this Christmas Supper Club, you can expect:

  • A warm, welcoming table
Come exactly as you are—festive, fragile, or a bit of both. No mask, no performance, no pressure.
  • Good food & gentle conversation
We’ll share a delicious meal at a cozy local restaurant, with space for honest feelings and lighthearted moments. Share if you want, listen if you need.
  • A fellow widow as your host
I’m four and a half years into reinventing my life after loss. I’m simply here to host, guide, and walk beside you.
  • A low-pressure way to try something new
You’re welcome to come alone (most women do at first). You’ll be greeted, included, and never left sitting awkwardly on your own.

Who This Is For

This gathering is especially for widows who:

  • Feel the holidays more deeply—both the ache and the beauty
  • Are tired of spending Christmas season on the sidelines, but don’t want to be dropped into loud, overwhelming spaces
  • Want to gently step toward community, conversation, and new traditions that honor both their grief and their growth

If that’s you, reserve your seat today.
