What is a Restorative Sound Bath?
A sound bath, also known as a sound healing or sound journey, is a deeply relaxing experience where you are immersed in soothing vibrations created by instruments such as crystal singing bowls, gongs, handpan, drums, chimes, voice and more. These sounds are designed to resonate with your body and mind, helping to release tension, reduce stress, restore balance and reset your nervous system.
By entraining brainwaves to slower, meditative states, sound baths promote deep relaxation, enhance mental clarity, and support the body’s natural healing processes. In a restorative sound bath, you simply lie down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and allow the harmonious frequencies to wash over you, bringing a profound sense of calm and well-being. Our Helensvale group sound baths are perfect for anyone seeking stress relief and inner balance.
The Science of Sound
Sound therapy used vibrational frequency to encourage the body to switch to its parasympathetic nervous system, or ‘Rest and Digest’ mode. This gives the body permission to relax, restore and heal – something that we usually need much more of in our busy culture and lifestyles. Allowing the body a moment of stillness and deep rest, away from the stresses of every day life, is a deeply nourishing practice which leads us on a journey towards our own self healing. Sound therapy has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, enhance sleep quality, lower blood pressure, improve breathing and circulation, alleviate aches and pains, and strengthen the immune system.

Common Questions About Sound Baths
What should I bring?
We encourage you to bring anything that will make you feel comfortable whilst lying down. This could include a pillow, blanket, or even an eye mask. The more comfortable you can be the better! The yoga studio has yoga mats, bolsters and blankets available for your use. It is also recommended that you bring a water bottle.
What should I wear to a sound bath?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax fully. Layers are a good idea in case the room feels cool or warm.
Are these sound baths suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! No prior experience is necessary. Just come as you are, ready to receive the beautiful frequencies of healing sound.
What happens during a sound bath?
During a sound bath, you lie comfortably on a mat while listening to soothing sounds from live instruments. These sounds promote relaxation, reduce stress, and encourage healing. You can also sit up if you prefer this over lying down - your comfort is priority.
What if I can’t relax easily?
Don’t worry—sound baths naturally guide your mind and body into a relaxed state, even if you feel restless at first. Simply lie down, breathe deeply, and let the soothing vibrations do the work. There’s no right or wrong way to experience it—just come as you are. The sounds and vibrations will naturally help you release tension.
