As more news organizations use AI and algorithmic systems, there is a need for practitioners, industry leaders, managers, and executives to take part in making AI responsible. In this workshop, we’ll provide a playbook detailing how to influence change and implement algorithmic transparency for your organization’s algorithmic systems.

This workshop will involve breakout rooms, so come ready to participate.

The workshop will be co-taught by Playbook authors Andrew Bell, fellow at the NYU Center for Responsible AI (R\AI) and Julia Stoyanovich, Director of NYU R/AI.

This workshop is based on the Algorithmic Transparency Playbook, course, and a paper published by NYU R/AI’s Andrew Bell and Julia Stoyanovich, in collaboration with Oded Nov (Data & Policy, March 2023).

Research This workshop is part of a research study evaluating learning methods for increasing algorithmic transparency literacy, and if you consent to participate, you will be asked to complete a short pre- and post-workshop survey (Note: you may still attend the workshop even if you do not wish to participate in the study). Full-time students, individuals under 18 years of age, and those residing outside of the US are not eligible to participate in the study (but can still participate in the workshop).
