Resonant Worlds Part Two: Rewoven

Overview

An Intimate Celebration of African Stories, Style, and Connection

Join us for Resonant Worlds Part Two: Rewoven — an evening that intertwines stories, style, and spirit across the African Diaspora.

Come exchange more than just garments. Trade stories, Afrocentric clothing, ideas, and dreams rooted in Afrofuturism — all in the spirit of a Friendsgiving-inspired gathering honoring African heritage and imagination.

This event continues the conversation begun with Resonant Worlds Part One: Exploring the Intersection of Afrofuturism, Theater, African Architecture & Design, featuring snippets from the documentaries A Song for Adaeze and CPD Africa. Together, we’ll explore storytelling and how clothing, art, and culture become powerful vessels for our narratives.

Stay for our clothing swap and small chops (bites) social after the main program — a chance to connect, share, and celebrate in true communal fashion.

About CPDI Africa

CPDI Africa (Community Planning & Design Initiative Africa) champions the creation of culturally rooted, environmentally sustainable architecture for the African Diaspora.

CPDI Africa promotes an African-centered, research-based approach to architecture and sustainable development through design partnerships across Africa and the Diaspora.

About A Song for Adaeze

A Song for Adaeze is an Afro-Futuristic musical that weaves together folklore, sci-fi, and the vibrant spirit of the African Diaspora. It follows Adaeze, a young royal, on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. When she meets a mysterious figure from another dimension, she's challenged to defy expectations, embrace her identity, and explore the balance between tradition and progress.

We are excited to welcome Brenda Philips as our featured visual artist. Brenda is one of Atlanta’s most dynamic performing and visual artists. Not only is she magnetic on stage, but her digital paintings beautifully honor the power and magnificence of the African Diaspora.

Her featured piece, “The Daughters of Eve,” reminds us that Black women are the Mothers of the Universe — radiant, powerful, and divine.

Meet her in person and experience her art at Resonant Worlds: Rewoven!

Come for the stories.
