About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Through a grant from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition (MIRC) has partnered with Boston-based Resilient Coders, IntWork, The Delmar Group, and Blueprint Maine to launch our pilot to launch our pilot project: “Pathways to Software Engineering”. This collaborative effort will train historically marginalized racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse youth across Southern Maine for careers as software engineers. This fall, a cohort of diverse youth will learn to code, for free, with a stipend.

On May 13th from 6PM - 8PM at Roux Institute's Amphitheater, the project partners will convene local tech leaders interested in hiring from this upcoming student cohort. At this event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the training organizers, learn about the program and specific technical/ non-technical aptitudes being taught, and ask questions.

Whether you’re interested in hiring, learning to code, or finding another way to support, all are welcome!

MIRC is now the convener of a unique, statewide network of 93 organizations, a majority of which are led by people of color – representing diverse ethnic communities across our state. All coalition member organizations are working to create and support programs and policies that promote immigrant inclusion and integration. MIRC represents member organizations that include immigrant constituency groups, advocacy groups, direct service organizations, and grassroots community organizations.
