What is a Repair Café?
A Repair Café is a free event where residents can bring various household goods that need repair. Lamps, small appliances, toys, clothing, jewelry and more are accepted.
Our Café is organized and staffed with Sustainable Putnam volunteers who enjoy fixing things and helping others. Repairs are performed for free. If needed, parts are sold at cost.
How does it work?
Pre-register by clicking this link. Or walk in any time between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm (The cafe closes at 1:30 pm.) Pre-registering helps you and us. We can let our repair volunteers know what kind of repairs are needed, and they can prepare with potential parts and necessary tools.
On the day of the Café, enter the Middle School's main entrance. Check in at the registration table. Check in at the registration table. Enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and a snack if there's a wait. You'll be directed to a volunteer "Repair Coach" who will diagnose and repair your item. We encourage you to assist your repair coach and learn a little about maintenance and repair. If there's a wait (or even if there isn't!) enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and a snack.
