Film Screening & Panel Discussion Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the US Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Join us for a powerful afternoon of reflection on the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. This event brings together two urgent films that examine the ongoing human and environmental costs of nuclear weapons production and use. The screenings will be followed by a panel of filmmakers and experts that explore the personal, political, and ecological toll of nuclear violence, and the global movement for abolition.

Film Screenings:

The Ultimate Wish: Ending the Nuclear Age (40 minutes) Directed by Robert Richter and produced by Kathleen Sullivan. Told through the stories of Nagasaki survivors and anti-nuclear activists, this moving film examines the humanitarian and ethical costs of nuclear weapons—and the collective efforts to end the nuclear age.

Half-Life of Memory: America’s Forgotten Atomic Bomb Factory (55 minutes) Directed by Jeff Gipe. An investigative documentary uncovering the hidden history of the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant and its long-lasting consequences for workers, communities, and the environment.
