Film Screening & Panel Discussion Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the US Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Remembrance, Reflection, and Reckoning presents two urgent films that confront the ongoing human and environmental costs of nuclear weapons production and use. The screenings will be followed by a panel discussion with filmmakers and experts exploring the personal, political, and ecological toll of the nuclear age.
Film Screenings:
The Ultimate Wish: Ending the Nuclear Age (40 minutes) Directed by Robert Richter and produced by Kathleen Sullivan. THE ULTIMATE WISH focuses on the moving testimony of Nagasaki survivors and Fukushima evacuees. The documentary raises profound questions about war, technological failure, radioactive contamination, proliferation, the courage to survive and the importance of taking action to prevent future nuclear disasters.
Half-Life of Memory: America’s Forgotten Atomic Bomb Factory (55 minutes) Directed by Jeff Gipe. HALF-LIFE OF MEMORY uncovers the hidden history of the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant and the lasting consequences of nuclear weapons production on workers, communities, and the environment.
